My music app of choice (Napster, believe it or not) tracks my personal top charts and I can call it up as a playlist. This is usually what I put on when I’m driving. After the new year it takes MONTHS for the Christmas music to drop off this list so I get stuck with random holiday songs popping up while I’m trying to get my Lizzo on.

Napster still exists?
The real problem with Christmas is the PG&E bill for December.

Yah. They went legit, then got bou ght out by with Rhapsody. After merging with iHeartRadio the app got rebranded ba ck to Napster. Their subscription s ervice is priced the same as Apple’s and Amazon’s but I like the interface better than the other two.

All of these services to some extent have the problem that they have difficulty with the idea that “I like his song, but I don’t want to hear it now”. If anything seasonable music should be easier for AI to figure out than other musical moods.

Right. We need an app with a weighted shuffle. If it sees you hitting “next” on one particular song a lot it s hould make that song come up less often.

Hot take: Wonderful Christmastime is one of the worst songs ever.

That isn't a hot take, it's a cold hard fact.

Welp, I’d just managed to get this out of my head. That’s no longer the case.

I'll have to check it out. I've been using Spotify for a minute and it'll make an interesting comparison.
